Jim was raised in the Washington area, growing up in Southern Maryland and Northern Virginia.  He started getting back into painting as he neared his retirement.

​

Jim took drawing and painting classes at Northern Virginia Community College. Jim said he has not settled on a main topic to paint so his art is eclectic with flowers and wildlife as well as still life and landscapes.

 

Jim's main medium was oils, but has worked in acrylics too.   

 

Jim passed in March 2022 and the Prince William Art Society will honor and remember Jim during the month of June 2022 at Open Space Arts - 15000 Potomac Town Center, Woodbridge, Virginia in a section of the gallery. His artwork is on display with the permission from his wife, Judy Gallagher.
