Jewell, a native Virginian, combines realism and impressionism to portray her work.  In addition to painting on canvas and paper, she also uses the monotype technique which results in a one of a kind impressionistic painting.  Jewell, initially a self-taught artist, has over the years studied with several professional art teachers.  She is a member of The Art League at the Torpedo Factory and the Prince William Art Society.  She was an original member of the Woodbridge Art Guild (which later became PWAS) for which an art scholarship has been named in her honor. The Scholarships are awarded to Prince William County high school seniors that are pursuing a career in art.

Jewell was a member of The Loft Gallery in Occoquan, Virginia for 16 years.  She was featured Artist of the Month for 7 of those years.  She was featured Artist of the Month in 2003, 2005, 2007 , 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2016.

Jewell was a Prince William County nominee for the
Second Annual Governor's Awards for the Arts in Virginia. In the past, she has served as a representative to the Prince William County Cultural Arts Federation and a member of the Federation Grants
Advisory Panel, while President of the Woodbridge Art Guild.

Her inspiration comes from the beauty of the landscape in all seasons, as well as her love of birds.
