Jewell, a native Virginian, combines realism and impressionism to portray her work. In addition to painting on canvas and paper, she also uses the monotype technique which results in a one of a kind impressionistic painting. Jewell initially a self-taught artist, has over the years taken classes and workshops in the northern Virginia area. She is a member of The Art League at the Torpedo Factory and the Prince William Art Society. She was an original member of the Woodbridge Art Guild for which an art scholarship has been named in her honor. Scholarships are awarded to Prince William County high school seniors that are pursuing a career in art.
Jewell has been a member of The Loft Gallery in Occoquan, VA since 2001. She has been featured Artist of the Month in 2003, 2005, 2007 , 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2016.
Her inspiration comes from the beauty of the landscape in all seasons, as well as her love of birds.
