Please join your fellow artists for the PWAS monthly meeting at the Tall Oaks Community Center at 7:30pm on Monday, September 22nd. Our special guest artist will be Mike Flynn, an accomplished local artist and instructor. As usual, our meeting will feature a presentation, followed by networking time and a business meeting. We hope you will attend to stay informed about upcoming events and shows. Our meetings are open to all, so bring a friend.
Mike Flynn
Originally from central New York, he graduated from Loyola College in Montreal, Quebec. In 1972, he moved to the Washington, DC area, and completed a 28-year career in federal law enforcement. Mike discovered watercolor in 1997, after taking some evening classes from a local artist. Over 25 years, he has developed his watercolor skills and juried into many exhibits and shows in the mid-Atlantic region. Among his exhibits are the spring and fall Art at the Mill juried exhibit, Millwood, VA where he has participated since 2013, and a solo exhibit at Westminster Canterbury in Winchester VA.
Mike has expanded his learning with oil painting and mixed media, using wet and dry artists tools. Mike operated an artist cooperative gallery, called ArtBeat, in Manassas for 13 years, until 2017. He has taught many local workshops and currently teaches watercolor classes at the Art Factory, in historic downtown Manassas, VA. He has a membership at the Loft Gallery, Occoquan, VA, and the Virginia Watercolor Society.
